*All of Uruguay is mapped in different soil types, i.e. H. The soils are divided into different quality levels, the so-called “Coneat index”. Productivity is then measured in this index. The average index for floors is 100. Poor soils have a low index and would possibly be better suited for forestry. Land with a Coneat grade of 80 to 120 is mostly grassland, which is suitable for cattle. Coneat over 120 is usually suitable for the intensive cultivation of most plants. “Prime” arable land for wheat could have an index of 150. Of course, every property can have a variety of different soil quality - in general, soils are poorer on plateaus and slopes and better in the valley.
