Lobos Island does not know frost because it is surrounded by large bodies of water; and it does not know droughts because the water arrives with the southeast (which fertilizes and irrigates the fields) and retreats when the wind changes. The respective dams of the Río Negro and the Río Uruguay control the flows of both rivers, which mitigates and anticipates the risk of an eventual flood.
